Final Project- Self Portrait

Our final project was to do two self portraits that really show who we are. There is so much about me that most people don't know or see. I wanted to include everything (like my silly side, my happy side, my hungry side, etc.) but that is impossible to do in just two pictures, so here's what I came up with.

1. The Beautiful side of me. Flowers in the background and in my hair, soft glow and bright eyes, gives the impression that I am innocent and sweet. I chose to keep this colorful for emphasis.

Assignment #4- Spirit and Steroscopy

So this assignment was interesting. We combined two different ideas and made them into one. The first was spirit photography (having a ghost in your picture), and the second was to make the picture/s work with a stereoscope. A stereoscope helps to create an illusion of depth in an image. This is done by putting two images next to each other that are slightly different. You know those little machines that Disney has that you put a round reel of picture slides in and the pictures pop out 3-D, and you pull the little lever on the side to change the picture? This is kind of like that. But the stereoscope my teacher has is much older. Anyway, I had to take two pictures of the exact same scene but in the second image the camera is moved just about two inches to the right. Also, to make the illusion of a ghost you only put that subject in one of the pictures...giving them a transparent glow. We also had to make up a company name for our image, and we had to write a story about what is going on the image. It all had to look dated. I looked at my image through the stereoscope today and to my total surprise and delight, it worked! Here it is. Of course it's much cooler if you have the device to look through, but I guess you'll just have to use your imagination!

Gross

I have to just show you the grossest thing ever! For my next photography assignment we are doing "spirits" or "ghosts" if you will. Anyway, I wanted my ghost to be gruesome so I busted out my stage make-up. I totally grossed my teacher out today when I showed him, and I'm not gonna lie, I had a hard time looking at myself in the mirror. I was supposed to be a bride whose throat was slit. Nice right? (I'll post more later about my next assignment).

Keith Urban Concert

So Krissa (through some switchery's and other ticket exchanges) wound up with some extra tickets for the Keith Urban concert, so...very HAPPILY I took one and so did my mother in law. We had a BLAST! It was AH-MAY-ZING!!!!! He seriously is such a good performer, so entertaining and talented!

Above was just before we left for the concert and below was when we got there.
That's the stage behind us.
This cute girl opened for him, her name was Sara Baxton. It was supposed to be Sugarland (which would have be awesome!) but she had a Dr.'s order to rest her voice. Anyway this girl was super adorable and had some really fun songs!

Part way through one of his songs he starts walking down into the crowd and up onto a small platform in the middle of the room. And he says, "Who's got the good seats now?" Krissa was right there close to him!He was very funny and down to earth and seriously just amazing! I had a great time! Thanks so much for the tickets Krissa!

Photography Class

Several people have asked about my photography class recently, so I thought I would do a little post. I am taking Digital Photography 1 at Pima Community College. I LOVE IT! I have learned so much and I am really enjoying myself. I put some of my pictures from assignment 1 on a previous post, but here are some from assignments 2 and 3.

Assignment 2 was supposed to be all about light and how it creates a mood. I used some of the pictures of my sisters in the pool doing the Ariel hair flip. Here are a few others.

I found this beautiful sign from a store that sells lamps, chandeliers, and other light fixtures.Reading by lamplight. I thought this was pretty interesting. We did an actual photoshoot in class just to experiment with all the crazy lighting that is available. But I thought the light from the photoshoot created a pretty interesting mood, so took pictures of people taking pictures. This is my teacher, he was watching the photoshoot. This girl was down my the umbrella taking a picture. I think this is a very beautiful picture. She looks very passionate about what she's doing and I like that her blue shoes are in the background. This was one of the two final pictures I turned in. It's my fav.And this is the other of the final two. The theatre of course. I like how the light has a star effect, how the girl is a silhouette, and how there is detail in the theatre even though it's dark.
Assignment 3 was so fun! We learned about Cubism (taking pictures from different vantage points and then combining them). So we made collages! I had lots of fun with this assignment.
This picture (above) was my first attempt. He had us take pictures at school and then just throw one together to make sure we understood. I think it's...okay.

This was my second attempt. Randon playing the guitar. My teacher really liked this one because you can see different expressions and his head is different directions in several of the frames.

With this one I wanted to try a background. So I used Randon's hand playing the guitar and then combined several frames with parts of his face and head, to make his face.

What do you think? Which one is your favorite?
