The Magazine Cover

For my Photo Workflow class we had to duplicate a magazine cover, right down to a very similar model, costume, fonts, etc. I thought it was a pretty cool assignment...and I think it turned out pretty good.

Here's the cover I chose.
And here's my end result.

What's in a Name?

I've been thinking about this lately.
I have had lots of nicknames in my life... haven't we all? But I realized lately that there are a few nicknames in particular that only certain people call me. That is to say that it's only okay for those certain people to use. I came to this realization when at my 2nd Dr.'s appointment, my Dr. called me Cal. And because she is such a jovial, free spirit, it didn't bother me at all. However, it got me thinking that there are only a few people in my life that have ever called me Cal: my sisters, one of my best friends in high school (Kendra), and my best friend in college (Jessica). One of my other Besties (Heather) used a little different rendition, she called me Cal Cal. There might be others I am forgetting, but these are the ones that stand out to me. This got me to thinking about other nicknames I have had.

-My Mother always calls me Callie Gal or Callie Gal-lie. I dated a guy once that heard her call me this and then he called me it later, and it really annoyed me. I told him he wasn't allowed to ever call me that again...it's my mom's thing!

-My Dad and Uncle Darrin always calls me Scalliewag.

-My Grandpa Udall (and I think others) called me SuperCallie. (As in Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious).

-My sister Dena and I call each other Mija.

-My Mother in law calls me Callie-girl.

-In high school, my best friend Kandi called me Callie Sue, then just dropped Callie and started calling me Sue. To this day I answer to that, but only when it's her. :)

Then I started thinking about Randon....he has never called me Cal. I think it would be weird. He calls me Dolly or Sweetheart mostly. But when he does say my name, there is something about it that gives me very pleasant tingles. There are certain people that say my name and I think, "Ew...don't say my name anymore...". But when Randon says it, it makes me feel so loved and special. Why is that?

Seriously, this was one big Ramble...like I said...I've just been thinking about it lately....

The Deal-io

I feel like I don't blog much about what is going on in our lives, since mostly my brain is consumed with pregnancy. So I thought I would just do a little catch-up. Here is the deal-io with the Walters lately. I am a full time student. You have seen some of my portraiture from one of my classes, but I am also taking a Photo workflow class that teaches basics in photoshop, lightroom, and bridge, among other things. It would be a good class if my teacher wasn't so boring. :) I'm also taking an art class because I needed an elective. We just finished a big project where we had to use only line to portray an emotion. It was....interesting. :{ And last but certainly not least, I am taking an advertising class (as it is my minor) and it's really kicking me hard. It will be my toughest class this semester for sure. I also work part-time still as an after school care giver working with Kindergarten through 6th graders.

Randon just about got done with all his pre-requs last semester for his MBA and is now in the market for a full-time job. He still works at Coconino Community College as a higher math tutor but is spending most of his time doing intense job searching. He has had several interviews, a few of which seemed promising but we are waiting to hear back. So if anyone knows any engineer companies hiring or hears of anything...you know that sort of thing... please keep us in mind. He is also, of course, the best husband in the world, and takes great care of me. I am so thankful for him.

Last weekend my parents and Leslie and her two kiddos came up for a visit. My parents stayed with Cara and Les and her two stayed with us. Poor Sammy was so sick, but oh my word, he is the cutest kid ever! We had a good time visiting. They brought me chips and salsa from La Casita because I've been craving it. I was MOST grateful and such a happy girl!

The day before yesterday (Friday night) our stake put on an Adult only Luau at the stake center and it was so fun! They had great food, good entertainment (the most beautiful 90 year old woman did a hula dance), games (with paper towel tubes...hilarious), and a dance. We had a really good time and made some new friends! I love it when there are fun activities to go to that I don't have to plan and are free! It makes it so much easier to get out!

So that's what up with the Walters lately. Busy busy busy. But life is so good and we can't wait for this little one to come! (See? I can't stay away from the pregnancy very long!) Hope you are all well and happy!

Studio Shoot #2: Clayton

Thank you all so much for you input on the last post! I did go with the crowd and chose #1. It was a good one! Now I want to show you my cutie nephew Clayton who came in to do a shoot with me. He is so stinkin' adorable! I am leaning towards one of these, but I would like to know what you all think again before I decide! Cast your votes!
